Client Profile: Robin & Jan Hick
We have been clients and friends of GFM for 12 years. Jan is 65 and I am 67.
Jan, in mainly secretarial roles, has worked with the Victorian School for Deaf Children, Real Estate, Solicitors, Victorian Gymnastics and spent 18 years in Primary School Administration.
As a Chemist, Food Technologist and Microbiologist I have worked in Food Quality Management with Chiko Rolls, Robur Tea, Cerebos, Rowntree Hoadley, General Jones IXL and 18 years as General Manager of Quality Assurance for Murray Goulburn Dairy Co-operative (Devondale Brand).
We have two sons, Carney (41) and Cory (38) who are married to Hollie and Robyn respectively. We have 7 grandchildren – Tom (8) George (5) Mary (2) and Lillie (12) Claye (10) Tully (7) and Dusty (4).
We love looking after the grandkids, making up for mistakes we made along the way; spoiling them rotten, then sending them back home for their parents to sort out. Our time together includes: having them appreciate how lucky we all are in the scheme of things, reinforcing their manners, and respect for the environment and other people.
Jan enjoys travel, golf, gardening, walking and following the mighty Hawks.
I enjoy staying home (don’t forget we live at beautiful Balnarring Beach on Westernport Bay on the Mornington Peninsula), fishing, golf, walking, ‘the shed’ and not watching footy (I played the game until I was 41).
How did we get involved with GFM?
Golfing with a friend, a partner in a stockbroking firm, I asked him to recommend a financial advisor. He recommended three. Then I asked him who he used, he said ‘GFM’- good enough for me.
The thing that most impressed us was the unpretentious office, the steep stairs, the friendly attitude; the vibe of the whole place.
From the moment we met Paul and the Team we were completely at ease. Paul’s ability to explain and guide us through the process, develop a strategy and a plan assured us we were in good hands. Dealing with GFM is always a pleasure, easy and personal. You can always get to talk to someone quickly and have your questions or issues readily addressed.
GFM continues to have a friendly, family feel. The GFM team seem to be up to date with current tax, superannuation, financial requirements and trends.
It is important to know, that it is not compulsory to read Trade Secrets or a lot of other detail.
We just need to ask, “What’s best for us”?
Without Paul and the Team’s help 12 years ago, we would not have been able to retire.
We now live comfortably, with part pension and knowing we are in good hands.
Because of our experience, we confidently recommend GFM to all our family and friends.
Our advice to all is that “it is never too early to start a financial/wealth plan – start NOW!!” – go and see GFM.
